Closed Match Fixture

As a result of the Clubs’ poor disciplinary record for the 2021/22 season up to the end of January, we have received a very ‘tough’ set of sanctions that impact both directly on the club itself and our 1st XV Senior men’s team.

One of the sanctions that has been received, is the application of a single “Closed Match”, for both our 1st XV and 2nd XV Senior men’s teams, which is the result of the poor spectator behaviour.

The 1st XV “Closed Match” is to be Saturday 26th March which is our fixture vs Norwich RFC.

So what does this mean…..
We have received a strict set of instructions from Essex RFU on the application of the “Closed Match”. Apart from players for both teams, we have a specific list of individuals who may be on the touchline, along with x4 ‘Discipline Stewards’.

No Eton Manor member/spectator is permitted to spectate the fixture from pitch side, the pergola, clubhouse or through any streaming services. Only travelling supporters from Norwich are permitted to spectate.

To that end and to ensure that we meet the “Closed Match” requirements, the Clubhouse and Grounds will be closed to Members, and also Parents, Wives, Girlfriends and Children of Eton Manor players who are playing the fixture itself.

If you are keen to support our seniors, you are encouraged to go along and watch the 2nd XV who are playing a cup 'Final' fixture at Upminster RFC.

Please do not come down to the Club as you will be turned away unfortunately.

Thank you for your continued support.
