Rugby sevens in the UK is about to experience its most exciting summer to date. The newly formed LIT Super Sevens Series 2025 marks a landmark merger between two of the sport’s most dynamic forces: the Super Sevens Series, the UK’s elite-level 7s competition, and the London International 7s Tournament Series (LIT7s), the country’s premier social rugby series.
The result? The largest rugby sevens series in the UK and Europe, with over 200 teams competing across six events between May and July.
This bold new chapter combines the intensity and international pedigree of the Super Sevens Series with the unmatched atmosphere and inclusivity of LIT7s. It promises elite performance, grassroots growth, and unforgettable experiences.
A Legacy of Excellence Meets Festival Spirit
The Super Sevens Series, founded in 2012 by Terry Sands and Barrie Torbett, has long been the proving ground for elite 7s talent. Over the years, it has welcomed international teams from China, Spain, Germany, and Hong Kong, and showcased stars such as Sam Cross, Harry Randell, Semi Radradra, Ross McCann, and David Strettle.
LIT7s, also launched in 2012 by Ellaine Gelman, has grown into the UK’s largest social 7s series. In 2024, over 70 teams competed, including sides from France, Jordan, and China. Its showpiece event at Wasps FC, attracted more than 1,125 players, cementing its place as the UK’s biggest rugby sevens tournament.
Together, they form the LIT Super Sevens Series – a dynamic new platform for every level of the game, from grassroots players to international stars.
