STORY
There may not be any rugby at the moment, but down at the club we’ve been keeping busy. The Club hopes that all of our Eton Manor family and local community are keeping safe and well in these strange times.

Every year we see our clubs membership getting bigger and bigger! A constant stream of new Men’s members joining, a huge, thriving Youth & Minis section and our rapidly growing, newly established Women’s section are all contributing to our clubs meteoric growth.

We want to start reopening YOUR club as soon as possible, and we’ve been looking at how we can do this safely and at the same time, take the opportunity to evolve and improve our facilities to better cope and serve our club’s growing membership.

All the infrastructure changes needed are going to require some significant work to take place, mainly in the clubhouse, bar, kitchen & outdoor covered seating areas, so let’s outline what’s involved.

Kitchen (catering facilities)

Currently the kitchen is far too small for our thriving club, with only a single serving hatch, making crowds and queues inevitable. By removing the existing walls to the kitchen and building new ones we can almost double its size and create a new, more functional kitchen. This would then have an internal server, an external server and a new door directly into our existing BBQ area, in effect allowing this area to become an additional external serving point if required.

Clubhouse Bar

Of course extending the kitchen, means that the main bar area becomes reduced, so we would then remove the dividing wall and the bar on the other side of it and extend the current bar with additional serving stations. We will move our stage area to the other side of the room, allowing the whole room to be opened up to give a more usable, expansive space and reduce the crowding we so often find. We are even installing vending machines so that the kids don’t have to queue at the bar for that much needed post-match chocolate bar!

Outdoor Covered areas

In addition to the internal works, we are also proposing to build an external Trellis; this would be a covered, seating area. This area is important, as it will give us the space needed for people to remain outdoors, particularly in the winter months where they can watch the matches, and at the same time reducing the numbers that would usually be in the clubhouse itself.

All of these much needed changes requires funding. The club has allocated some of its funds towards the project, but we will need more. Later this week, we will be showing you all how you can help raise the funds we need to complete the project.

We know that many of you are experiencing hardship and uncertainty in these current times but any donation, no matter how small an amount, would go a long way to help us make your club safe to open and provide all our members with a much better club to use.

You can get a better idea of the changes taking place by watching the Video above.

This is our Manor.
