I have never written a match report before folks so please bear with me but I think Manor’s 2nd team deserve a mention
The weather was lovely and warm and the 2nd team had the luxury of playing on the 1st team pitch.
The team talk from Cushy was exactly the same as against Southend the week before (EM 24 – 7 Southend) which consisted of let’s just play our game and adapt to the opposition if necessary, but unlike the previous week there was no need to adapt as it was one way traffic from the kick off.
Now this is where it gets a bit hazy. I know that Tom Cat scored the first try and that’s it. I believe 12 or 13 tries were scored in total and I know the score was 38 nil at half time. I believe Blaine scored one, as did Rodell, Alex, Jack white, Tony Spurgeon and Conner (some of these players may have scored two) and a special mention must go to Samuel Green as he scored four tries and got four conversions from six attempts. I only know this from his boasting on facebook. Upminster never stopped banging in the tackles but this 2nd team is filled with youth and pace (and a few old gits).
But you simply can’t tackle what you can’t catch. The match was a good clean affair and the Upminster fullback even acted as physio for both sides (a jolly nice chap).
The final score was 75 nil to Eton Manor. I must apologise if I have left any scorers out but it was hard to remember everyone, feel free to chip in if you were not mentioned, Next week we have a game against Woodford 2s, this will be a local derby game so what with local bragging rights at stake a tougher encounter is expected.
