Another good win against Old Brentwoods, leaving it late before coming out 30-18 winners.
A funny old game which seemed to start in slow motion, not helped by the fact that Seb forgot the (wet) yellow shirts which he had to go back home for and which we needed for the 2nd week in succession. The first half was a tight affair with OBs scoring a late try to turn around in the lead.
Early in the 2nd half a typical Mad Sean burst up the middle where he looked for opposition to run into rather than around resulted in a superb solo try to edge us 2 points into the lead. We then sat 2 up until the last 10 minutes when first space was spotted behind their defence for foolish fire to dribble the ball through the 22 before it popped up nicely into his hands for an unconverted score. Then a break and exchange of passes saw Saunders, for the first time in 15 years, run with the ball in his hands before passing outside to Mad to score his second try. Once again the score went unconverted. (actually think I might have got those 2 score the wrong way around, but who cares).
Unsurprisingly Private Canada got the Makowski moment of the match award for abandoning his mates to play in the 2nd team. As he wasn’t there, Willie manfully stepped in and did the honours... and Lovett deservedly got voted Man of the Match
No game next week, next game is against Romford at Home on Saturday October 23.
