Manor's running rugby proves to be too much for a valiant Romford

After last years match with Romford no one was confident this match would be anything other than a hard fought match. Manor were already missing three of their regular forward when Darragh pulled up injured during the warm up. The coaches and his parents made the sensible decision to rest him.

Romford kicked off the match. Manor's normal composure and form just wasn't there giving away a scrum for a knock on their 10m line. A superb trademark tackle from our very own Jack D and a quick kick from Sonny saw Adam pick up the ball and score the first try. Manor 5 - 0 Romford & Gidea Park.

After the re-start Manor were unfortunate to lose a player to a yellow but this seemed to really focus the boys. To prove a point and being one boy down Manor finally started to turn on the pressure. The next twenty minutes saw a very dominate Manor. A superb miss pass by Red saw Adam run in Manor's second try, Jack added the conversion. Manor 12 - 0 Romford & Gidea Park.

A great run by Vinai, Daniel and Jack put Romford under pressure near their try line. A clearance kick was charged down by Jack D and Jack K didn't miss the opportunity to both score the try and add the conversion. Manor 19 - 0 Romford & Gidea Park.

Straight from the re-start Max C caught the ball, passed it out to Jermaine who duly ran it in straight under the posts. Again Jack added the conversion points. Manor 26 - 0 Romford & Gidea Park.

From the re-start Manor knocked the ball into touch, Romford now had a line out on Manor's 5m line. A great catch from Jake and then with runs by Jack K and Tiernan Manor took the ball to the opposite end of the pitch. Romford won a line out and kick the ball deep into Manor half, but Adam caught the ball, ran it back and an off load to Jermaine saw Manor extend their lead as he scored his second try. Manor 33 - 0 Romford & Gidea Park.

To make things worse Manor were now back to 15 players. Red made a sublime catch from the re-start. Running forwards to catch the ball he slid into the catch on his knees. Backed up by Daniel and Vinai pressure was back on Romford. Anthony sped off from a manor scrum down the touchline and after an off load to Jack K and try Manor again increase their lead. Manor 40 - 0 Romford & Gidea Park.

Close to the whistle our very own Danny Care (Max C) seized the moment from a manor penalty to come very close to scoring, but the final try of the first half went to Gabe. After a now custumary strong run from gabe he crossed the line and Jack once more the conversion points. The referee blew the whistle for the first half which saw Manor leading 47 - 0.

Second half started with the manor coaches making numerous substitutions. Romford seize the opportunity to score and convert. Manor 47 - 7 Romford & Gidea Park.

Manor once again settled but both teams seemed even. Anthony for a moment forgot he was playing rugby as fly hacked a loose ball and then proceeded to kick it again and again down the length of the pitch.

With half of the second half gone Manor substituted players again and with it re-took the ascendancy with Jermaine scoring his third try of the day which Anthony converted.Manor 54 - 7 Romford & Gidea Park.

The final score of the match went to Max C with a cheeky scrum half try and with Jack conversion the final score was Manor 61 - 7 Romford & Gidea Park.

Man of the match could have gone to so many players; Jermaine for his tries, Jack D for his tackling, Red played a great game, Daniel for being his usual immense self, but today Jake was outstanding. Jake tackled, was unfortunate not to score a try from a break away run and was pivotal both in attack and defense.

A great all round team performance by all of the boys and credit should be also given to Romford for never letting their heads go down and continually attacking rugby.
