Manor unfortunately felt the full backlash of Southend's league defeat the week before to Brentwood. A very experienced and well drilled Southend team, full of County and academy players, totally outclassed Manor inflicting one of the U16's biggest ever defeats. Southend played simple direct rugby, they ran straight and as soon as they were tackled there were support players to either ruck and secure the ball or take the quick pass and continue the next phase of attack. Manor by contrast were dropping off the tackles and when they did have the ball never managed to make much ground. Very little for Manor to take out of this game other than the courage and heart with which they played the game.
Knowing the boys they will be back even stronger as soon as the season resumes in 2016.
