Manor Stun Sidcup

After discipline had let Manor down in the last couple of games it was essential that Manor didn’t let this happen again against a strong Sidcup squad. This was a friendly, so the chance for both coaches to play rolling substitutions ensuring all the boys got plenty of game time. Manor were missing a number of backs, so Stuart needed to shuffle the usual starting line up; James slotted into scrum half and Neo move from the front row of the scrum to centre (Neo, centre is the best position on the pitch).

First Quarter:
Both teams started strongly, this was going to be a very even match. A break by Manor saw Adam cross the line; Manor 5-0 Sidcup. Great rugby and defense by both teams meant the rest of the quarter remained scoreless.

Second Quarter:
Again an evenly matched game till a great interplay between Manor’s backs, a final pass to Jermaine who sped past Sidcup’s last defenders, the try was converted by Jack to make the score; Manor 12-0 Sidcup.

Third Quarter:
A great long re-start by Manor saw Sidcup running back from deep in their 22 gave Manor a huge advantage as it was taken into touch. Unfortunately Manor could manopolise on it as Manor knock on. Manor won the trade in kicking between the full backs, helped by the cross wind. Some quick thinking from a penalty, a quick tap and the ball passedout wide saw Kieran scored his first try in Manor colours. Jack added the extra points from a tough conversion on the touch line, with a strong woind, one which many professional players would never get; Manor 19-0 Sidcup.
Manor’s larger squad was beginning to tell as fresh players were sent on and another try by Adam and conversion from Jack saw manor extend their lead; Manor 26-0 Sidcup.
A welcomed return by Will was reward a try, Jack once again added the extra conversion points; Manor 33-0 Sidcup.

Fourth Quarter:
Sidcup rallied in the fourth quarter and score two tries.

Final score; Manor 33-12 Sidcup.

A great game but one which saw a display of great rugby only matched by a display of teenage boy testosterone, no need to mention anything more about that.

Special mention goes to Alfie on his debut as well as to Nick and Alfie, another mention has to go to Jack who’s conversion kick was sublime.

Thanks also to Sidcup for providing such a tough and hard fought match, also a big thank you to the referee for managing the teenage testosterone and allowing a free flowing game of rugby.
