Old rivals, Thurrock U17s were our first League Division One opponents following the earlier bye with the withdrawal of Romford and Gidea Park RFC at the beginning of the season. The match was played on the Thurrock first team pitch which ensured a vocal and enthusiastic crowd.
Despite early Manor pressure, it was Thurrock who were the the first to score with a fine try.
Eton Manor remained confident in their game plan and soon struck back. With continued pressure the score mounted but Thurrock were never daunted and there were several moments when they looked like they would work their way back into the game. Manor's defense remained resolute and the match finished with a score line of 5-35 to Eton Manor.
Stand out performances on the day, David Searle, as fly-half and for kicking all five of his conversions. Farouk Asubiaro for a brace of tries from full-back, and "The Pack" for, once again, raising their own bar another notch.
