Following the disappointment of the Southend fixture it was excellent to see the boys return to winning ways. Thurrock are a well respected team and brought a big, strong pack and a lively set of backs to the New Wilderness on Sunday morning. The first team pitch remains in wonderful condition and was used for the match.
Eton Manor got off to an excellent start and were three tries to the good within the early stages of the first half. Thurrock rallied just before and just after the halftime and looked more like the good side that they clearly are. However, Eton Manor found their second wind and finished the game the stronger. Great credit to the Thurrock team though, they never let their heads go down and played hard to the final whistle.
Talking of credits, the backs deserve a big pat on the back with Joel Swan being immense in the centre, Brian Okoyo on the wing and second half replacements Bradley Comber and Daniel Lockley providing the impetus for the second half rally. The forwards played against a bigger pack and were outstanding . Pierre Jean-Marie was dynamic and carried well as did Ross Ingram.
Old rivals, Chingford, in the Cup, first round, in two weeks time boys, so don't put those ties away just yet. UTM
