The final fixture of the season was played at Loughton RFC against a well motivated Westcliff outfit. Westcliff started well and had manor deep in their own half within 5 minutes of the start .A good scrum win for manor within their own 10m line lead to the ball being passed ambitiously along the backline . However a poor cut out pass and a drop ball saw the Westcliff centre pounce on the ball and run unopposed over the line to score a converted try. Manor responded almost immediately by scoring within 5 minutes. The ball moved along the backline and although the ball was dropped backwards , Will Fitch picked the ball up and from 10m out ran through the Westcliff defence to score a converted try.
A high penalty count against Westcliff and a good run by Teddy (inside centre) later that half saw Manor push for a try but Manor were unable to breach the Westcliff defence. The second half was a different affair. With a mounting penalty count against them , Manor defended for long periods of the half. With a majority of the possession Westcliff were able to score 2 more converted tries without reply. The referee sin-binned Sam (flanker) for repeated offences in the ruck late in the game but by that stage Westcliff were dominating the game and particularly the ruck . Westcliff ran out comfortable winners.
