The sun was out, the ducks, geese and swans that had taken up residence on the second and third team pitches had finally left and Manor had their first match back at the New Wilderness for two months and the boys didn't disappoint the spectators.
First Half
Ongar were an unknown entity, but it's good for boys to play unknown opposition. From the off Manor attacked with fervor, months of little game time being unleashed in one match, but Ongar were up for the challenge displaying a solid defense. The statistician would have had a field day; Manor had practically all the possession and territory but didn't manage to score. In fact Ongar first the first half with a break away try and led 0-5 at half time.
Second Half
Perhaps Ongar's hard defensive work in the first half was their undoing in the second as Maxwell quickly leveled the score line with one of his dancing runs. Manor 5 - 5 Ongar.
This was followed by Tyrell breaking through the centre scoring. Manor 10 - 5 Ongar.
Ongar still fought valiantly but Manor had their heads up and were now running the freely. Two more tries from both Maxwell and Tyrell sealed the win for Manor. Final score Manor 20 - 5 Ongar.
A great game of rugby by both teams and one that both sets of coaches and parents truly enjoyed. Well done Manor and well done Ongar.
