EM RFC 10 - Maldon RFC 34
EM U13 kicked off the new year with a home fixture against the league leaders Maldon. The visitors started strongly, with their back's superiour handling finishing off strong forward play around the rucks. They went into a 10 point lead within 5mins, furtunatly Manor managed to settle down for the next five minutes and to got some possession and teritory and were unlucky not to get anything from this period of play. Maldon finish the half strongly running in a further two tries, they should have scored more but for some brave Manor tackling particularly from man of the match Morgan and some useful clearance kicking from Eoin.
The second half saw a complete turn around from the Manor, the boys stepped up their game and played with speed, power and agression this put their opposition on the back foot right from the off and eventually resulted in a follow attack involving the entire back line. The back row then secured the ball at the break down and rumbled forward towards the Maldon line, Terrell eventually got hold of the ball and powered his way over the line to score his 9th Try of the season!!
Manor should have scored at least two further tries due the tireless off the ball work of Thomas who continually created the overlap by working off his wing to pop up on the other one!! Maldon came back into it with another quality score, but Manor once again showed great character, working their way upfield and securing a scrum just inside Maldon's from which Max Shaw broke from to score a fine individual try. Maldon finish the game with another score, but Manor left the field with their heads held high after a season's best performance against a very strong Maldon side. Well done boys!!!
