The loss of a few players, a few new players, playing on a full size pitch, full fifteen boys a side, All questions that were going through each parents minds, whereas the boys looked totally focused and unfazed by anything. The match was a friend and as such a chance for both sets of coaches to test their teams, new players, postions etc and therefore was played as three 20 minutes periods.
First Period:
Manor came right out of the blocks with their usual fast pace of rugby and solid tackling. This soon paid off with a quick forwards try by Matt, not to be out done the backs followed up a few minutes later as Max S cross the line, Eoin duly added the conversion. The last try of the third went to Harry. Romford & Gidea Park 0 - 17 Manor.
Second Period:
Leo added to Manor's tally by scoring, but the moment of the second period was Finn Cusack breaking the Romford defense and running a full half of the pitch, with the screams of his parents ringing in his ears, to score the second try of this period. Once again Eoin added the conversion points. Romford & Gidea Park 0 - 29 Manor.
Third Period:
Romford's defense was more solid in this period till Max S broke the deadlock with his second try of the day. In the final play of the game honors once again went to Manor as Eoin added a try to his two conversions and Max B added the conversion.
Final Score: Romford & Gidea Park 0 - 29 Manor.
A great TEAM display by Manor and good to see the rolling substitutions had no impact on the structure of the team.
A huge thanks to Romford & Gidea Park for a great game and plenty for both coaches to take away from it.
