Well done to all the players who turned up at a wet and miserable Eton Manor on Sunday to play Chingford. In the first game captained by Charlie, we put in a very good effort with some accurate handling and support , especially considering the wet conditions. There were some excellent tackles made from everyone especially Michael and particularly Luca tackled anything in a Chingford shirt. Despite our good passing game we couldn't break down their defence, and too often we found ourselves running sideways across the pitch and then pushed into touch.
In the second game we made a couple of changes and brought on the big guns to straighten up the running (Thady and Jack). They soon got to work and had some surprised looking Chingford players bouncing off of them as they ran straight, and through the Chingford line. Once we got behind their defence we opened up the scoring opportunities with some good runs by Nick and Johnny.
Although we lost both games (the second only just), there were a lot of positives to take away from both matches.
Player of the match went to Luca for his great tackling. Worst performance of the day went to the gazebo which finally give up and collapsed (on my wife’s head). Thanks for all the support from the mums and dads on the sidelines who helped to keep us going.
